Drywall & framing · Basement Renovations

Basement renovations.
Framing through drywall.

Turning an unfinished basement into livable space starts with the wall layout. Joel frames the rooms, then handles the boarding, taping and finishing that follow. He works alongside the other trades on your renovation, not in place of them.

Services

From open studs.
To a finished basement.

Basement renovations move through the same two stages: framing the new layout, then boarding, taping and finishing the walls and ceiling. JW handles both.

Basement framing

Wall layouts, room divisions, ceilings and bulkheads, framed and ready for drywall.

Basement drywall installation

Boarding for basement walls and ceilings once the framing is complete.

Taping & finishing

Taping, mudding and sanding for a paint-ready basement.

  1. Step 1 Send the basics

Location, job type, and a couple of photos if you have them.

  2. Step 2 Written estimate

The scope and price are confirmed before work starts.

  3. Step 3 Work done clean

Tidy job site, steady follow-through, and a walkthrough at the end.

Plan your project

Plan the framing and drywall together.

Starting with an unfinished basement, or changing the layout of an existing room? Bring Joel the rooms you want to create, the ceilings or bulkheads involved, and any work already completed.

  1. Framing the space

Discuss the wall layout, room divisions and bulkheads before deciding what needs to be boarded. Framing can be included in the same estimate as the drywall work.

  2. Boarding walls and ceilings

Identify which surfaces need new drywall and where they meet existing walls. Tell Joel about other trades still working in the space so he can review the scope and readiness.

  3. Taping and finishing

Confirm the taping, mudding and sanding required for the walls and ceilings. The written estimate sets out the finish and the stages JW will handle.

Joel has helped me several times with different renovations, demolition and framing, and I would highly recommend him! I called him last minute a couple times and he was able to help us out. He also is well connected with other trades. Really nice guy as well!

Project questions

A clear scope starts here.

Do you work outside Fergus?

Yes. JW takes on basement framing and drywall projects across Fergus, Elora, Centre Wellington, Guelph and Kitchener-Waterloo. Send the job location and scope so Joel can confirm availability and the next step.

Can you handle the entire basement renovation?

This page covers framing, drywall installation, taping and finishing. Discuss demolition, electrical, plumbing, painting and any other work separately so the written estimate is clear about what is included.

Can I enquire before I have final drawings?

Yes. Describe the space and what you want to change. A sketch, rough dimensions or photos can start the conversation, with the final scope confirmed before work begins.

What affects the estimate?

The wall and ceiling area, access, ceiling height, bulkheads, existing conditions and finish requirements all help define the scope. Tell Joel whether framing, boarding and finishing are all needed so the written estimate covers the right stages.

What if some of the framing or drywall is already done?

Describe what is complete and what still needs doing. Share photos when Joel follows up so he can review the existing work and discuss the remaining stages. Any preparation or adjustments need to be agreed as part of the scope.
